GreatNews - the lightning fast RSS reader and organizer

GreatNews is a lightning fast RSS reader and browser, with tabs and popup blocking. It works closely with default browser like Firefox. It will help you to organize and save hundreds of RSS feeds locally and even allows you to assign labels to articles so that you can retrieve them later by a single click. It supports all major feed formats, including RSS 0.9x, 1.0(rdf), 2.0, Atom 0.30 and 1.0.
One of the advantages of GreatNews is the different layouts it supports like News paper, brief etc. which will help you to skim through more pages in least possible time to pick the news or article you want.
Another advantage of GreatNews which I love is the Auto-discovery of RSS links. GreatNews's reading pane discovers RSS or OPML links automatically when you are browsing the web site. Simply click the RSS icon on the status bar to subscribe. You can even make GreatNews to hunt for the feeds just by giving the URL of the required site.
GreatNews is extremely fast and even with hundreds of rss feed subscriptions, the response is always instantaneous. You can opt to show news from all channels on the same page. And you have full control over how many articles can be displayed at once.
A portable version of the GreatNews allows you to organize all your favorites in your pen drive and is a great help if you work in different systems.

  1. I used GreatNews at work because it could accept proxy.pac files, where FeedReader couldn't, so I've stayed with GN.
